We’re building Nova Music to give independent music teachers one place to run their studios. Nova brings scheduling, attendance, billing, family communication, lesson records, student portals, and practice into one connected experience.

We talk with our customers daily. Their feedback, along with how they use the product, shapes what we build.

Our goal is to reduce the administrative work teachers carry, make things clearer for families, and create a better experience for students between lessons.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to make Nova simpler, clearer, and more useful for music teachers, students, and families.

You’ll work across the full product, from first-time setup and daily studio operations to billing, communication, and the student experience on web and iOS.

You’ll talk with customers, turn what you learn into thoughtful flows and prototypes, and stay involved through implementation and iteration.

You’ll also help build a design system and research practice that let a growing team move quickly without losing consistency or care.

• Lead product design from customer discovery and early concepts through detailed interaction design.
• Simplify scheduling, billing, messaging, onboarding, and student-facing workflows.
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready interface designs.
• Conduct customer interviews and usability studies with teachers, students, and families.
• Partner closely with product and engineering throughout implementation.
• Build and maintain a design system that works across responsive web and native iOS experiences.
• Use product data and customer feedback to evaluate released work and improve it.
• Use AI throughout research, concept development, prototyping, design critique, and documentation.

• More teachers finish setup and reach value during their first experience with Nova.
• Customers complete important studio tasks with less confusion and fewer mistakes.
• New features are adopted because their purpose and behavior are clear.
• Recurring usability problems and design-driven support questions decline.
  
  Nova feels coherent and recognizable across web, iPhone, and iPad.
• The team moves from customer insight to polished product experiences more quickly.
• Accessibility and usability improve for teachers, students, and families with different needs.

• You have 2–5 years of product design experience on complex web or mobile products.
• Your portfolio shows strong interaction design, systems thinking, and clear product judgment.
• You’re skilled in customer research, prototyping, visual design, and usability testing.
• You can simplify workflows that involve schedules, money, permissions, or several kinds of users.
• You understand responsive web design and native iOS conventions.
• You work closely and constructively with product managers and engineers.
• You use qualitative insight and product data to improve released work.
• You’ve made AI a meaningful part of your design process and know where human judgment matters most.
• You communicate clearly and can explain the reasoning behind a design decision.

Experience designing for educators, independent professionals, or small-business operations is especially useful.
