Purpose of Position
Join the Kentucky College Coaches on Campus program and make a direct impact on student success. As a College Coach (Ameri Corps Member), you will support high school students—especially those who are first-generation, low-income, minority, non-traditional, or have disabilities—as they transition to and persist through college. This role combines mentoring, advising, and career readiness support to ensure students stay on the path toward higher education.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized mentoring and guidance on academic, social, and career planning
- Support students with time management, organization, and study strategies
- Help students apply to college, complete the FAFSA , and meet ACT college-readiness benchmarks
- Collaborate with teachers and counselors to implement tutoring and college-readiness plans
- Promote financial literacy, course planning, and college-bound curriculum
- Engage families and host college planning events like FAFSA or admissions nights
- Recruit community volunteers to assist with academic and career support
- Track student progress and outcomes related to college enrollment and persistence
- Increase college applications, FAFSA submissions, and ACT benchmark achievement
- Reduce the need for remedial college coursework
- Improve college enrollment and first-to-second-year persistence
