Location: Watterson Park
Bilingual Associate Instructor I, II, III #2 – Southern High School
Job – Start Time 8:40 AM.
As a Bilingual Associate Instructor, you will support Jefferson County Public Schools’ ESL program by providing language instruction, assessment, and support to students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Scope of Responsibilities
Assists teachers in fulfilling the goals of the second language program by providing appropriate language instruction to assigned students, implementing educational programs, and delivering comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Instructor I Bilingual Associate
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Passing Score on the Kentucky Para‑educator Assessment or 48 college hours
• Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.
• Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
• Program‑specific certifications/training.
• Effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Instructor II Bilingual Associate
• Associate Degree or approved equivalent training (64 college semester hours) and experience.
• One (1) year of successful experience with children.
• Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.
• Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of or receptive to philosophy, policy, and methodology of the U.S. educational system.
• Effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Instructor III Bilingual Associate
• Bachelor's degree. Official Transcripts are required.
• Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.
• Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of or receptive to philosophy, policy, and methodology of the U.S. educational system.
• Effective communication skills.
• If your highest education is High School or GED, you must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam. The exam is free, and you have three chances to obtain a passing score. For assistance with studying for this assessment, click KPA Study Guide and/or sign up for the KPA Prep Class with JCPS Adult Education. You can sign up here and make sure to select “I want KPA classes.”
To schedule to take the KPA test with our Adult Ed department, . Upon completion of scheduling, you will receive a confirmation email from Adult Ed with additional instructions about the location, address, and parking.
