Purpose of PositionDirectly supervised by a program coordinator of University Connect and Persist (UCAP), this position supports the Coordinated Care student success initiatives of the University. The coordinator will utilize proactive outreach strategies to identify and engage with students in need of support. The coordinator will likewise interact with faculty and staff, primarily in the division of Academic and Student Affairs and the Office of Student Financial Aid and Student Account Services to support retention and persistence efforts.
This position will implement University student success programming by maintaining a student caseload, utilizing campus‑wide student success platforms, collaborating with campus support services to address critical student needs, promoting and facilitating success networks, assisting with the development and implementation of innovative and proactive outreach strategies, and presenting to campus constituents. The position helps support UCAP programs such as Textbook Lending @ Steely and Access Code applications.
Responsibilities
- Direct Student Service
Respond to referrals of at‑risk students; meet with individual students to provide intensive intervention and assist with establishing goal‑oriented strategies; target at‑risk students for retention activities; meet with a caseload of students receiving scholarship/grant awards; review scholarship renewal requirements and make recommendations at year’s end. Monitor student progress toward academic and financial goals; align academic goals with financial plans; provide liaison services to connect students with campus support systems;
provide updates on student progress to referring faculty, staff, and administrators; review caseload with program coordinator; monitor progress and provide academic or other intervention for students at risk of losing awards; and other duties as necessary. - Program Management
Work collaboratively with FUEL NKU program coordinator and Care Closet personnel to help deliver basic needs resources to students; support UCAP programs as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience required; or a master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with students, staff and faculty at all levels and work as a team.
- Strong initiative, and student service/success oriented.
