Controls Engineer

Fives is looking for a Controls Engineer to design, support, and maintain the control software of our composite laying equipment, which utilize gantry and robotic manipulators and peripheral equipment, at the Cincinnati facility.

• Write and maintain code in  Win Forms, C, C++, and many IEC 61131-3 PLC languages.
• Use Microsoft’s Visual Studio and TIA Portal development environments.
• Target code to run on Windows, Intime RTOS and Siemens Operate platforms.
• Manage source control with Mercurial and Git.
• Plan for future C# and/or Indusoft development for HMIs.
• Utilize OPC‑UA, Access Databases, and Modbus‑TCP in various applications.
• Continuously improve and optimize system performance and increase control system functionality and capability.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews.
• Troubleshoot electro‑mechanical and software issues.
• Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Work well in a team and with minimal supervision.

• Experience with multi‑axis servo systems design, motion control systems, and robotic interfaces.
• Experience with sensor interfaces, IO, fieldbus, and related technologies.
• Experience with integrating machine safety systems within software applications.
• Experience with software quality systems/processes.

• Education:
  
  BS in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Computer) or Computer Science. Relevant years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Preferably 5 or more years of relevant controls and software programming experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency status (green card).
• Travel will be less than 10%.
• Pay is commensurate with level of relevant experience.

Cincinnati, OH – Salary range: $90,000.00–$ (or $90,000.00–$). Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level.
