Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist to support BOM creation, maintenance, and accuracy across multiple manufacturing sites. This role is responsible for ensuring product structures, scrap rates, activity rates, and material lifecycle data are current, accurate, and aligned with operational requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams involved in production, engineering, supply chain, and new product introductions.
This is a six-month temporary position with the potential for full-time conversion based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Create, update, and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), including new setups, changes, deletions, and component updates.
- Maintain and update scrap rates, activity rates, and routing data within the ERP system.
- Enter and track material destruction requests in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain and update the Material Run-Out Tracker to ensure accurate visibility into material depletion and changeover timelines.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure BOM accuracy and alignment with production processes.
- Participate in meetings related to new products, project launches, engineering changes, and process updates.
- Support multi-site BOM alignment by learning site-specific manufacturing and BOM requirements (some travel required).
- Ensure product master data integrity and contribute to continuous improvement of BOM and routing processes.
- Experience working with Bills of Material in a manufacturing, production, engineering, or supply chain environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Infor, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfortable collaborating across functions and clarifying data discrepancies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic analysis a plus).
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn site-specific processes quickly.
- Ability to travel to assigned sites for onboarding, training, and periodic support (as needed).
- Experience with routings/routers, labor standards, or manufacturing activity rates.
- Knowledge of scrap accounting, yield tracking, or costed BOMs.
- Exposure to engineering change processes (ECO/ECR).
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI/NPD) activities.
- Opportunity to support multi-site manufacturing operations.
- Hands-on experience with product structures and master data.
