The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist will perform duties under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor with technical support from the Instrument & Controls Engineer to maintain the plant's instrumentation and controls systems at peak operating conditions. Leadership of the other I&C Specialists daily activities as well as mentoring their skills is a key part of this position. This position makes decisions based upon sound maintenance practices and business needs assessment.

This will be an onsite position at our Florence, KY location.

Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all instrument calibrations and batching system performance checks are completed in a timely manner and results reported to appropriate personnel.
  • Mentor and teach the other I&C Specialist so that consistent testing and calibrations are obtained by each associate.
  • Direct the technical troubleshooting of plant equipment with the other I&C Specialists.
  • Coordinate work planning and scheduling with the Maintenance Supervisor and participate in the execution of controls related capital projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform instrument calibrations – adjust or replace instrument as needed.
  • Perform batching system performance checks to verify system is operating within tolerances.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation as required in the instrumentation calibration program.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes needed to maintain the controls system at 'World Class' standards.
  • Participate on large project teams in the development of control/instrumentation system specifications and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of new equipment systems.
  • Lead the development and execution of small projects that are electrical/controls in nature.
  • Perform the following tasks: system start‑ups, operational checkouts, configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding, power testing; reload and reboot PLC; preventative maintenance and routine inspections; provide hardware and software application support assistance; setup and configure replacement electronics and controls components; specify, organize and maintain spare parts; tune automatic feedback control loops using PID controllers; utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, SDS, safety materials, system drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
Qualifications

Experience and

Education:

  • Documented training in control and instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance.
  • A minimum of 5 years industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Chemical manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Track record of increased technical competence and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in process control and instrumentation including instrumentation (temperature, pressure, level, flow and mass density), GE & Allen‑Bradley Control Logix PLCs, Emerson Delta

    V DCS, industrial networking (Profibus, Modbus, AS‑i Bus, Foundation Field

    BUS), HMI’s (Wonderware and Panel views), VFD, servo, and motion controls.
