Summary:

** The Senior Mechanical CAD Designer creates designs and technical drawings for fixturing & test equipment. They work closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of machines. Mechanical CAD designer reviews specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.

**** Duties/Responsibilities
*** Prepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings.
* Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and architects on the team.
* Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.
* Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.
* Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams.
* Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the equipment is built properly and according to design specifications.
* Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.
* Serve as a mentor to junior staff.
** Skills/Abilities
*** Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Deep CAD knowledge.
* Strong computer and mathematical skills.
* Strong Solid Works and/or CREO skills.
* Knowledge of 3DX Product Lifecycle Management tool.
* Possess strong organizational skills.
* Excellent planning and time management skills.
* Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000.
* Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning & tolerancing.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
* Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.
** Education
* ** Requires a Technical or Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering or other relevant field.
** Experience
* ** Requires 10+ years of experience designing in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings using Solid Works and/or CREO.
* Work experience in a defense contracting environment is preferred.

** The US base salary range for this full-time position is $38.00 - $66.59
