Field/Service Technician, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
Remora is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead the startup, commissioning, testing, and operational handoff of our modular carbon capture systems. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building and executing the commissioning process as we move from our first commercial deployment to a growing fleet of systems. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Controls, Field Service, Project Management, and Operations to safely bring systems online, troubleshoot issues in the field, validate performance, and establish a repeatable commissioning model that can scale with our deployment pipeline.
We’rebuilding modular carbon capture systems, turning exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ sold to breweries and greenhouses. We deploy in regions facing severe CO₂ shortages, where prices are highest, allowing us to generate high margins without relying on tax credits or carbon credits.
We’ve raised over $115 million in funding from top investors including Lower carbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.

- Lead onsite startup and commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and process systems.
- Coordinate commissioning schedules and resources across Engineering, Project Management, Operations, contractors, vendors, and customer sites.
- Lead troubleshooting of complex system issues during startup and commissioning, driving problems through root-cause identification and resolution.
- Verify equipment installation, controls functionality, instrumentation, interlocks, alarms, and safety systems prior to startup.
- Execute and document system performance testing to confirm equipment meets defined operational and engineering requirements.
- Identify commissioning risks and issues early and develop mitigation plans to protect deployment schedules.
- Partner with Engineering to improve system reliability, maintainability, operability, and ease of commissioning.
- Build standardized commissioning processes that allow Remora to efficiently deploy multiple systems in parallel.
- 7+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, field engineering, operations, or deployment of complex industrial equipment or process systems.
- Experience leading the commissioning and startup of industrial equipment from installation through operational handoff.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and process systems.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment and system-level issues in the field.
- Experience developing commissioning plans, procedures, test protocols, punch lists, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of PLC/controls systems, instrumentation, industrial electrical systems, and process equipment.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and field personnel during startup and commissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, control narratives, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel extensively to deployment sites as required.
- Mission First:We are laser-focused on our mission. We have chosen to take on the defining challenge of our time, and we don’t shy away from the hard decisions required to put our mission first, no matter how tough. The world needs our technology and it won’t happen any time soon if we don’t make it happen. We are a low-ego team, and we prioritize the mission over our self-interest.
