The City of Jarrell is seeking a Building Inspector/ Plans Examiner who performs residential and commercial building inspections and reviews construction plans, permit applications, and related documents to ensure compliance with the City’s adopted building codes, zoning ordinances, development regulations, and applicable laws. This position conducts field inspections at various stages of construction, reviews plans and permit applications, communicates code requirements and deficiencies to applicants and contractors, and assists the public and development community throughout the permitting and inspection process.
The position requires technical knowledge of construction methods and building codes, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with contractors, developers, design professionals, City staff, and the public. General supervision is provided by the Development Services Director or designee. The position performs assigned duties with limited supervision and is expected to exercise independent judgment in routine inspections and plan review activities.
Work is reviewed through inspection reports, plan review comments, permitting records, and general administrative oversight.
Salary/Benefits:
The pay range is $56,120 to $67,345 annually; and will depend upon the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The City offers Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, TMRS Retirement with 8%/2 to 1 match, Paid Time Off and 13 Holidays during the calendar year.
