Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake/output, weights, blood glucose monitoring, and point‑of‑care testing.
- Assist with patient procedures, therapies, transportation, and ongoing monitoring while reporting changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Perform advanced clinical skills based on competency and department needs, including EKGs, phlebotomy, bladder scans, Foley and straight catheterization, IV‑related procedures, and telemetry monitoring.
- Educate and support patients and families under the direction of the RN.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, and hospital policies.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support high‑quality patient care.
- Support unit operations by responding to call lights and phones, transporting patients, passing meal trays, and completing clerical duties as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and contribute to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in departmental projects, committees, and professional development activities.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and exceptional patient care.
Senior PCTs may also perform advanced skills such as basic arrhythmia monitoring, complex wound care, 12‑lead EKGs, and NG tube clamping/removal based on department needs and competency validation.
