Admitting Clerk Arcata, CA

The Admitting Clerk/Switchboard Operator assists in the operation of the hospital by greeting and registering patients for procedures and admissions. Representatives should have a strong working knowledge of hospital systems, computers and data entry. The Switchboard Operator answers all incoming calls, routes telephone traffic, and serves as the hospital receptionist.

• 1. Ability to interact with the public, relate well to others, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor
• 2. One year of related experience in the healthcare industry preferred
• 3. Good verbal and written communication skills
• 4. Experience working in a computer database desirable
• 5. Visual acuity to read documentation tools, manuals, and other material relevant to the department
• 6. Auditory acuity to hear verbal communications and instrument alarms
• 7. BLS certification within three months of hire
• 8. Maturity and emotional stability; ability to handle fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing conditions, emotional demands, demands of maintaining effective working relations with peers, managers, patients and others.
