The Infection Preventionist is responsible for facility infection prevention and control programs. This role monitors infection data, trains staff on infection control practices, ensures compliance with CMS/state requirements, and supports resident safety and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control program.
- Collect, analyze, and report infection surveillance data to leadership.
- Provide staff education and competency validation on infection control practices.
- Conduct facility rounds to ensure compliance with hand hygiene, PPE, and isolation protocols.
- Investigate infection outbreaks and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on infection-related issues and survey readiness.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and regulatory requirements.
- Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
- Ability to educate, train, and mentor staff effectively.
- Organizational and communication abilities.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
- Experience in long-term care infection prevention programs.
