PRN Position

Job Summary:

• Assess the emotional, psychological and physical needs of the patient to understand what they require and how the social worker can support them
• Interview patient and their family member(s) to coordinate and develop care plans that meet the social and emotional needs of the individual
• Advocate for the patient's needs and ensure the medical system respects their rights and caters to their preferences
• Help to reduce barriers between the various parties involved in patient care, such as medical staff, patients and their families, by facilitating communication
• Provide crisis intervention and assist families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on lifestyle
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in social work required (MSW)
• 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
• Mental health / psychiatric experience preferred
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patient, guest, physicians, and other employees
