The Dean serves programs and employees across multiple College locations. Regular travel between campuses, instructional sites, and community or industry partner locations is required. Some evening and weekend work may also be necessary based on College and program needs.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in business administration, education, higher education administration, information technology, industrial technology, workforce development, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible administrative, supervisory, or academic leadership experience.
Minimum of four years of teaching, workforce development, industry, or other directly related professional experience.
Demonstrated experience supervising personnel and managing programs, budgets, or organizational operations.

Administrative or leadership experience in a community college or higher education environment.
Experience overseeing career and technical education, workforce, business, information technology, or applied technology programs.
Experience developing partnerships with employers, industry, workforce organizations, or community partners.
Experience with curriculum development, program review, assessment, and/or accreditation.
Experience with grant-funded programs or other restricted funding.
Knowledge of North Carolina Community College System programs, policies, and procedures.
Experience using learning management systems such as Canvas.
Demonstrated commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
Position DescriptionThe Dean of Business, Industry and Applied Technologies (BIAT) provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership at College of The Albemarle. The Dean oversees business, information technology, career and technical education (CTE), and applied technology programs. This position reports to the Vice President of Learning.
The Dean leads faculty and staff and oversees program quality and daily operations. A strong focus is placed on student success, program growth, and continuous improvement. The Dean also works closely with other College leaders to support institutional goals and priorities.
Building strong community partnerships is an important part of this role. The Dean works with employers, business and industry leaders, workforce organizations, educational institutions, and community partners. These relationships help the College identify workforce needs and emerging employment opportunities. They also help ensure programs remain relevant as industries, technologies, and employer expectations change.
The Dean provides leadership for curriculum development, enrollment, scheduling, personnel management, budgeting, assessment, accreditation, and regulatory compliance. The position also helps identify opportunities to strengthen existing programs and develop new ones. Enrollment trends, student outcomes, labor market information, and employer feedback help guide these decisions.
This position requires a collaborative leader who can balance strategic planning with daily operations. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are important for success. The successful candidate should value student achievement, workforce development, innovation, and community engagement.
