About the Role:

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, programming, and optimization of CNC machining equipment used to manufacture, modify, and repair precision mold components, tooling, fixtures, and production support equipment. This position requires a high level of machining expertise, blueprint interpretation skills, and proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Solid Works and Mastercam.

The CNC Machinist works closely with Toolmakers, Tooling Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to produce high-quality components that meet dimensional requirements, delivery schedules, and customer expectations. The successful candidate must be capable of independently troubleshooting machining processes, developing efficient machining strategies, maintaining equipment, and prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced tool room environment.

A minimum of five years of hands-on machining experience is required, preferably in a mold manufacturing or tooling environment. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously are essential.

KEY

ACCOUNTABILITIES /

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform machine setups accurately and efficiently while maximizing machine utilization.
  • Manufacture new mold components and perform repair machining on existing production tooling to support production and engineering objectives.
  • Operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision mold components and tooling.
  • Work closely with Toolmakers, Tooling Engineers, and CAM Programmers to develop and improve machining processes and CNC programs.
  • Participate in daily scheduling and workload planning meetings.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs to improve efficiency, quality, and machine utilization.
  • Utilize Mastercam and Solid Works to support manufacturing operations.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, indicator gages, and other inspection tools.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Manufacture and repair mold components, fixtures, electrodes, and production tooling.
  • Support engineering changes, mold revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in establishing manufacturing standards, best practices, and setup documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
OTHER POSITION DUTIES:
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixture, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders and hand tools.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Calculate and set up controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control.
  • Repair or manufacture parts to maintain all production tooling.
  • Clock into jobs utilizing an ERP system.
  • Document completion of all required processes in ERP system
  • Troubleshoot parts when issues occur
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Secondary education and/or apprenticeship are highly desired.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant hands on tooling experience.
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing CAD/CAM software including Solid Works and Mastercam.
