Job Description & How to Apply Below

A senior advisory role owning the strategy behind a new cybersecurity textbook - from positioning and publishing path to launch and go-to-market. For a veteran of technical or academic book publishing who knows how to bring a specialized title to market and make it succeed commercially.

What you'll do
  • Book strategy & positioning: define the book's market position, target audience, competitive landscape, and title/naming, so structure and framing align with industry needs and reader expectations.
  • Publishing strategy: advise on self-publishing vs. conventional paths and guide imprint, rights, and contract considerations, leveraging relationships with technical publishing houses.
  • Go-to-market & launch: own pre-launch strategy, launch timing and sequencing, and the overall GTM plan across the cybersecurity and academic communities.
  • Marketing strategy: design promotional campaigns - social media, cybersecurity influencer partnerships and reviews, live demos, and community activation.
  • Market research & recommendations: deliver actionable guidance on positioning, pricing, and channel strategy.
  • Collaboration:

partner with the author/subject-matter expert and the editorial team to align the book's content with its market strategy.
What we're looking for
  • Extensive, senior-level book publishing experience - ideally at technical or academic houses (e.g. O'Reilly, Pearson, No Starch Press, Wiley, Manning, Apress).
  • Proven go-to-market track record bringing technical or professional titles to market and driving commercial performance.
  • Depth in book marketing, launch campaigns, and audience/channel strategy.
  • Command of both traditional and self-publishing models, including rights, distribution, and imprint considerations.
  • Ability to translate market analysis into clear positioning and go-to-market recommendations.
Nice to have
  • Experience with cybersecurity, technical, or academic audiences.
  • An established network across technical publishing houses, reviewers, or industry influencers.
  • A track record with bestselling or high-visibility technical titles.
  • Comfort with a human-centered, AI-collaborative publishing model.
