This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills while delivering top-quality care to diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility, including safe manual handling practices and use of patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring precise medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, following strict HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure safety.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff, especially in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or wound management.
- Assist with medical procedures including phlebotomy or specimen collection as needed, utilizing appropriate infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, demonstrating caregiver communication skills that foster trust and comfort across settings like long-term care facilities or assisted living communities.
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working with diverse populations such as geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring dementia or memory care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy to support accurate patient care activities.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks/Cerner) for documentation and patient data management.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and practice safe manual handling techniques during patient transfers or mobility assistance.
- Current CPR/BLS certification; additional certifications like medication administration or phlebotomy are a plus.
- Prior experience in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine is advantageous but not mandatory.
