The Inpatient Float Pool at UT Southwestern is a high-impact clinical team supporting safe, flexible staffing across Clements University Hospital and Zale Lipshy Pavilion. Float Pool RNs and PCTs provide care across more than 30 inpatient units spanning critical care, medical-surgical, oncology, telemetry, progressive care, rehabilitation, and specialty services—offering an unmatched opportunity to work across diverse patient populations and clinical environments.
As a strategic clinical resource within hospital-wide nursing operations, the Float Pool plays a vital role in meeting the dynamic needs of both hospitals. In partnership with Central Staffing and nursing leadership, the team brings skilled clinical support where it is needed most, helping units respond to changing patient acuity, census, and staffing needs while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care.
Float Pool Level 3 RN:As a Float Pool Level 3 RN, you will provide expert, adaptable nursing care across a diverse range of adult inpatient medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, rehabilitation, oncology, and specialty settings. This role is designed for an experienced RN who values clinical variety, embraces change, and thrives in dynamic environments. You will apply strong clinical judgment, adapt quickly to the needs of each unit, and collaborate effectively with diverse interdisciplinary teams while maintaining consistent standards of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Graduate of accredited nursing program - Experience
1 year of acute med/surg nursing experience - Licenses and Certifications

- Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments. Takes all assessments into consideration age specific criteria.
- Anticipates patient's and/or patient's family needs and expectations and utilizes these in conjunction with assessment to develop appropriate plan of care for patient. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care. Maintains and utilizes competencies per unit expectation.
