Visitor Services Division, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
Duties- Collect appropriate fees at park entrance station, visitor center, campground, and other visitor contact stations following established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. Safeguard funds collected.
- Present informational talks, guided tours, and demonstrations following a prescribed outline to various audiences to inform or educate.
- Respond verbally to visitor inquiries for information, direction, and guidance.
- Provide direction to, information on, and orientation regarding services or activities of interest to the public.
- Serve as the front‑line representative to greet customers and answer questions.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- May be required to operate a government or private motor vehicle as part of official duties; prior to first operation must sign affidavit and provide valid state‑issued driver’s license and copies of certified driving records.
- May be required to complete training and operate a four‑wheel drive vehicle.
- Government housing may be available.
- Required to wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards; uniform allowance provided.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
To qualify for the GS‑0090‑03 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of this announcement (01/22/2026):
- Experience: At least six months of general work experience (any type of work demonstrating ability to perform the duties of the position). Must include hours per week worked.
- Education: Successful completion of at least one year of study above high school that included at least six semester hours in courses such as American history, science, and/or public speaking. Must include transcripts.
- Combination of education and experience: As described above.
Volunteer experience may also qualify and is credited accordingly.
Other Information- Federal employees must meet CTAP/ICTAP eligibility if applicable.
- Physical demands:
Moderately sedentary to moderately strenuous. Standing, walking, occasional lifting. - Working conditions:
Indoors at visitor center and outdoors in extreme temperatures, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. - Employment may be terminated at any time due to fluctuations in funding levels, project needs, employee performance, or other considerations.
