Metrology Technician | Wayland, MI
Salary Range: $49,000 - $76,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities- Perform calibration, verification, and preventative maintenance of precision measurement equipment and gauges.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts, tooling, and fixtures using CMMs, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and other metrology tools.
- Document calibration records, inspection results, and non-conformance reports accurately and thoroughly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve measurement discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and provide technical support to production.
- Develop, implement, and maintain metrology procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
- Analyze measurement data to identify trends, process variations, and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the selection, acquisition, and validation of new metrology equipment.
- Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs, vision systems, and conventional metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Solid understanding of measurement principles, calibration processes, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Experience with metrology software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and data analysis for quality control.
- Technical degree or certification in metrology, quality assurance, or a related technical discipline.
- Proficiency in CMM programming languages (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
- Experience with advanced metrology equipment such as laser scanners, CT scanners, or structured light systems.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or similar continuous improvement methodology training.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for process capability studies.
- Ability to interpret and utilize CAD models (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA) for measurement planning and analysis.
