FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income, enjoy a flexible schedule, and do not need prior mortgage field inspection experience; effective time management and deadline‑meeting skills are essential. The company is based in Reno, NV and has been in business for over 9 years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to perform them. The purpose of the property inspection is to:

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. Inspectors are contracted at a county level; they may share a county with another inspector if volume warrants.

• Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
• Finish the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in the mobile app.
• Spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; contractor pays own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Though paid per inspection, you can expect to earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates;

high‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the workload remains consistent month to month. You can earn more as you establish yourself, become more available for inspections, or cover a larger territory. Mileage reimbursement is not provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
