Job Profile:Research Technician
Job Summary:This position will assist Center for Limnology principal investigators on a project aimed at understanding herbivory on wild rice and testing strategies to mitigate herbivory. The duties of this position include: data entry and organization, data analysis and visualization, literature review, organizing and administering meetings, sharing results with and getting feedback from partners, writing reports, planning field season methods and logistics, and conducting field work on lakes.
This position will be part-time, with the possibility to work up to 29.75 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares lab and/or field test materials and samples according to established research requirements and specifications. Performs lab or field tests
- May assist with literature reviews and/or report writing
- Inspects and maintains equipment, supplies, inventory, and facility spaces
- Collects data and monitors test results according to established research requirements and specifications
- Reviews data to summarize results for presentations or reporting

Compensation:The expected salary rate for this position is $17 per hour. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience, qualifications, and FTE.
Required Qualifications:- Experience with data entry
- Understanding of basic ecological principles
- Experience with literature searches
- Experience writing reports
- Comfort with statistical analyses
- Knowledge of mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS or QGIS)
- Experience with meeting facilitation
- Knowledge of wild rice and/or waterfowl
- Experience with planning logistics
- Experience with canoeing or driving small motorboats
Education in Ecology preferred
