ECORP Consulting, Inc. is seeking a full-time Assistant Archaeologist to join our Southern California cultural resources team. The position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects throughout the region while being based out of our San Diego
, California office. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of supporting both field and office-based cultural resources work.
- Supports Project Managers, senior staff, and field teams with project coordination, scheduling, logistics, and related project activities
- Assists with archaeological surveys, monitoring, excavations, and other cultural resources fieldwork activities in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards
- Conducts records searches, background research, literature reviews, and other research activities to support cultural resources projects
- Assists with the preparation of technical reports, site records, maps, environmental documentation, and other project deliverables in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and other applicable regulations
- Coordinates with project teams, regulatory agencies, Native American tribes, clients, and other stakeholders as directed by Project Managers and senior staff
- Maintains accurate field notes, photographic records, GIS data, project documentation, and other records; assists with data management and quality control activities
- Supports laboratory activities, including artifact processing, cataloging, and analysis, and maintains knowledge of current archaeological methods, cultural resources regulations, and industry standard
- Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or a related field
- 0-2 years of professional archaeology
- Understanding of CEQA, NEPA, and other federal, state, and local cultural resource
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and
- Field school completion and experience conducting archaeological surveys
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary
- Ability to adapt to changing project schedules, field conditions, and client
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed technical
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, GIS platforms, and related software
This position requires hiking over uneven terrain, carrying field equipment, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and standing or walking for extended periods of time
Compensation:This is a full-time hourly position with a range of $25.61 to $30.48 per hour
, annualized at approximately $53,268 to $63,394 per year based on a full‑time schedule. Starting salary is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications/permits, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.
