About This OpportunityThe University of Florida seeks a Biological Scientist II to support plant breeding, germplasm management, molecular genotyping and quantitative-genetic analysis across field, greenhouse and controlled-environment experiments. This research role supports a plant-breeding programme from crossing and germplasm management through molecular and quantitative analysis. Duties include planning breeding nurseries, field trials and greenhouse or controlled-environment experiments; maintaining and evaluating breeding populations; DNA or RNA extraction, PCR and genotyping; phenotyping and image-based data collection; and statistical analysis. The programme also uses QTL mapping, GWAS, genomic selection and genomic prediction where appropriate.
The scientist coordinates daily research activity with faculty and trainees and may supervise students or technical staff. Driving between research locations is required.
