About This Opportunity
The Innovative Genomics Institute at UC Berkeley is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar in the Advanced Translational Genetics Lab to build stem-cell disease models and precision-medicine discovery platforms using genome engineering, CRISPR screening, single-cell multi-omics and AI. Applications close on 14 October 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
This postdoctoral position integrates experimental stem-cell engineering with scaled functional genomics and computational analysis to investigate the genetic and molecular basis of human disease. In the Advanced Translational Genetics Lab, the researcher will engineer and differentiate human induced pluripotent stem cells into disease-relevant cell types, validate models using tissue culture, PCR, next-generation sequencing, high-resolution imaging and biochemical assays, and run CRISPR screening campaigns from library design and cloning through lentiviral production and high-throughput perturbation.
A third workstream centers on computational pipelines for multi-modal phenotypic data, pathway analysis and AI-based modeling to identify biological mechanisms and candidate therapeutic targets. Disease areas may include oncology, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic disease. The postdoc will also mentor students, prepare manuscripts, present findings at conferences and contribute preliminary data and writing to NIH, NSF and private grant proposals.
The appointment is two years with possible extension.
