About This OpportunityPenn's Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology is recruiting several full-time Instructors to develop and apply advanced statistical methodology, with current emphasis on imaging statistics, causal inference and AI applications in biostatistics. Applications close on 15 October 2027 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
These Instructor appointments are designed for quantitative researchers who can develop a recognizable methodological research programme within biostatistics rather than solely provide statistical support. Current departmental priorities include imaging statistics, causal inference and artificial-intelligence methods applied to biostatistical problems. Responsibilities may combine leadership and collaboration in advanced-method development with publication in leading journals, acquisition of research funding and presentation of methodological innovations at national and international meetings.
The successful applicant may also mentor students and postdoctoral researchers and is expected to build an increasingly independent research portfolio, including peer-reviewed articles and participation in grant applications. Each appointment begins with a one-year term, with continuation and renewal dependent on satisfactory performance and available funding, limited to three years. Because the source covers several Instructor positions, the record is represented as one umbrella recruitment rather than being split into unsupported individual vacancies.
