Job SummaryThe Laundry Place is hiring a Laundry Attendant for our SE 14th Street location in Des Moines, Iowa. We want reliable, friendly people who like helping neighbors get laundry done without hassle.
Guest hours vs. your shiftsGuest hours at SE 14th Street: 6:00 AM – 12:00 AM (midnight); last load 10:30 PM. Attendant shifts are scheduled inside those hours and vary week to week.
Attendant shifts depend on the location — they are not the same as self-service store hours. Most locations have extended hours;
University, Fleur Drive, and SE 14th close at midnight.
- Pay: $14–16/hour
- Part-time and full-time openings
- Performance bonuses may be available depending on store programs — ask during your interview.

- Equipment: 34 washers and 51 dryers on the floor
Health insurance is available for select management positions only — not offered to laundry attendants or most floor staff.
Key Responsibilities- Greet guests and help them start washers and dryers confidently.
- Keep the store clean — folding tables, restrooms, floors, and seating.
- Watch equipment, report maintenance needs quickly, and keep aisles clear.
- Restock detergents and supplies; promote wash-and-fold or retail when it helps a guest.
- Follow opening/closing and security routines for a safe visit every time.
- Friendly customer service — help guests with machines, payment cards, and questions.
- Reliable attendance and a flexible schedule (part-time and full-time openings).
- Comfortable learning our payment systems and keeping the store clean and safe.
- Basic cash/math skills for change and kiosk help when needed.
- 18+ with reliable transportation to your assigned store.
- $14–16/hour published range
