Multi-Purpose Clerk - Cashier - Fitzgerald Drive, Pinole, CA

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. The Multi-Purpose Clerk promotes sales, answers customer questions, handles special orders, and practices safe food handling procedures. Responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, logging, stocking, rotating, and merchandizing products to maintain quality and department appeal.

• Center Store/Front End – Operate the check stand according to policy, memorize PLU codes, stay up to date with new products, and perform stocking, merchandising, POS and inventory activities.
• Produce – Receive, inspect, log products for quality, trim/wash/wrap produce, stock, rotate, and merchandise; maintain floral areas; keep all areas and equipment clean.
• Meat/Seafood – Receive, inspect, log products for quality; weigh, wrap, label for display; stock, rotate, and merchandise; provide customer service at the seafood counter; may take special orders; operate equipment like slicers and wrappers; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Bakery/Deli – Receive, inspect, log products for quality; prepare, weigh, package, and label display items; stock, rotate, and merchandise; take special orders; operate equipment such as ovens, proofers, slicers, and mixers; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Janitorial – Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store; sweep and mop floors and work areas; clean restrooms, break rooms, offices, shelves, cases, and equipment; empty trash; may operate janitorial equipment.

Duties Included in all departments:

• Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
• May operate forklift if authorized and certified.
• May operate baler if authorized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring pay range: $17.15 – $27.00

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation.
• Proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job.

Education
:
High School Diploma (or GED) or additional job experience.

Experience
:
Six months of related experience.

Other
:
Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical
:
Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
