The selected candidate will be required to work 12‑hour rotating shifts. Night, weekend, and holiday work is required.

The university police officer is a member of the University Police Department, which serves and protects the campus community. The officer is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with the university community; maintaining a secure environment; mitigating safety hazards; being observant and responding to actual and suspected criminal activity on campus; controlling and regulating traffic; and investigating security, safety, crime, and traffic incidents.
The university police officer is dedicated to educating, mentoring, and contributing to the success of the university community.
- Communicating with supervisors, peers, and all stakeholders in a courteous, culturally‑adroit manner that models the University Police core values, while providing an outstanding customer service experience.
- Patrolling assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle.
- Promptly, clearly, and concisely completing a variety of written incident, offense, and ancillary reports in a grammatically correct manner and in accordance with established best practices.
- Responding to emergency alarms and dispatched calls for service.
- Observing and responding to actual and suspected criminal activity.
- Deterring crime and arresting violators as prescribed by Kentucky Revised Statutes.

EducationMinimum Education:
High School Diploma.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree.
Dependent on qualifications and experience; for highest qualified lateral candidates up to $30.99/hour + KLEFPF incentive upon KLEC certification. Position participates in state hazardous duty retirement system.
Pay GradePay Grade: S67.
