The Village of Larchmont Police Department is seeking dependable, safety-focused individuals to fill the position of Part-Time Parking Enforcement Officer / School Crossing Guard. This dual-role position supports community safety through enforcement of Village parking regulations and the safe movement of school children and pedestrians at designated crossings.
Primary Responsibilities Parking Enforcement Duties- Enforce Village parking and traffic regulations
- Issue parking summonses accurately and professionally
- Patrol assigned areas by foot or vehicle
- Identify hazardous conditions and report violations
- Provide public assistance regarding parking rules
- Assist children and pedestrians in crossing streets safely
- Control traffic using approved safety equipment
- Monitor intersections and school zones
- Communicate effectively with motorists and the public
- Report unsafe traffic conditions
- Part-time position not to exceed
- 29 hours per week
- Morning and afternoon school crossing shifts
- Daytime, evening, weekend, and special event assignments as needed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Prior parking enforcement, security, public safety, or municipal experience
- Customer service experience
- Knowledge of traffic safety procedures
Applicants must successfully complete:
- Background investigation
- Fingerprinting
- Medical evaluation (if required)
- Required training programs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to walk moderate distances
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to safely operate traffic control equipment
Hourly rate:
Competitive
(Commensurate with experience and Village pay scale)
