Location: BriarwoodThe Peer Specialist will assist with clients' basic social service needs. The individual will work in conjunction with the social services team to monitor and provide appropriate basic services to clients at a 200+ bed men’s shelter. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform daily inspections of all client areas.Respond to incidents as appropriate.Perform regular area inspections to ensure that rules are adhered to.Monitor sitting areas and cafeteria to ensure all clients are adhering to schedules and are in proper locations.Assist security team as needed.Assist clients in daily living skills, including cleaning, laundry, hygiene, and with intakes.Answer phones when necessary.Assist with all house operations and maintenance duties as needed.Assist clients with securing property within assigned lockers and track locks for all lockers.Store and remove client property from storage/locker area, maintaining a clean and organized space.Relocate items and furniture as necessary.Complete intakes for new clients and provide orientation to the drop-in center program and DHS rules and regulations.Review logbooks at the start of each shift to ensure all new client intakes are completed within 24 hours.Maintain required documentation in case records, both written and in the computer database (CARES), updating client records according to policies.Collect client identification and other necessary documents during initial intake.Input new clients into weekly data tracking spreadsheets.Provide direct coverage for client reception and sitting area.Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, staff trainings, and all required agency meetings.Perform all other duties as directed by management.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
:
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 1-year experience working with homeless or special needs populations.
Comfortable working with at-risk and homeless individuals.
