Position Overview & Organizational Relationships
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Housing, the Resident Assistant (RA) ensures a safe, secure, clean, and supportive environment for families transitioning from homelessness through aftercare. The RA assists resident families with service plan implementation, tracks their progress, and works closely with Case Managers to support their service plan goals. Maintaining a respectful, family-oriented atmosphere, the RA collaborates actively with fellow RAs and shelter staff to deliver cohesive, compassionate care.

Build and maintain professional, supportive relationships with residents while strictly upholding personal boundaries and organizational policies. - Safety & Environment
:
Conduct routine interior and exterior safety rounds to maintain a secure, healthy, and clean property; report maintenance needs and follow up as necessary. - Documentation & Compliance
:
Accurately record family interactions, critical incidents, intakes, and case progress notes in alignment with agency report logging standards. - Crisis & Conflict Intervention
:
Facilitate conflict resolution, offer de-escalation/mediation, and step in during crisis situations as needed. - Transition Support & Empowerment
:
Guide families through the intake-to-discharge continuum, by equipping residents with the information and tools needed to make informed daily decisions and build self-determination. - Transportation
:
Safely transport clients in agency vehicles across the Capital Region based on families’ needs. - Confidentiality & Rights
:
Guard sensitive client/agency information and champion resident rights at all times. - Certifications & Professional Standards
:
Maintain active CPR/First Aid certification and participate in required professional development. - Communication & Respect
:
