High School Baseball Coach
Location:
Burgin Independent School District
Reports To:
Athletic Director and Principal
The High School Baseball Coach is responsible for developing, organizing, and leading the Burgin Independent High School Baseball Program. The coach will foster student-athlete growth by teaching skills, strategy, and sportsmanship while promoting academic achievement, discipline, and teamwork. The role includes supervising practices and competitions, maintaining program equipment, and ensuring compliance with KHSAA regulations and district policies.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct all phases of the high school baseball program.
- Develop practice plans and training programs to build player skills, teamwork, and fitness.
- Teach and model sportsmanship, character, and respect on and off the field.
- Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by enforcing proper procedures and injury prevention measures.
- Maintain an inventory of equipment, uniforms, and facilities; submit requests for needed supplies.
- Recruit and develop student-athletes at the middle and high school level to build program sustainability.
- Monitor academic performance of players and encourage academic success.
- Follow and enforce all Burgin Independent School District policies, as well as KHSAA rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule games, secure transportation, and coordinate officials.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Previous coaching and/or playing experience in baseball required.
- Valid Kentucky teaching certificate or KHSAA Coaching Certification (if not a certified teacher).
- Knowledge of the rules, fundamentals, and strategies of baseball.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and the community.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Practices and games may include evenings, weekends, and travel.
- Position is part-time and supplemental; stipend provided according to district salary schedule.
