Our Metro Sports Turf – Citywide Team is responsible for maintaining and developing sports fields across Christchurch’s community parks. We take pride in delivering top-quality turf that supports everything from local weekend games to national events.

Join our Wigram‑based team as a Sports Turf Curator. You’ll play a hands‑on role in preparing and maintaining top‑quality sports turf, supporting events, and ensuring our fields remain safe, functional, and visually impressive - all while working closely with the team and providing support to help lift our collective performance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain and lead the preparation of sports fields to national, and international specified standards
• Creating and developing the sports field maintenance programme with a focus on ever improving environmental impact considerations.
• Supporting events with turf maintenance and logistics
• Engaging with stakeholders, sporting organisations, volunteers, and the community.
• Operating and maintaining turf equipment and machinery

You’re passionate about turf management and thrive in a team environment. You bring:

• A Level 5 qualification in Sports Turf Management or similar
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in turf preparation and grounds maintenance
• Grow Safe certification, Wheels/Tracks/Rollers licence, and First Aid (desirable)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

• Location - This position is primarily based at Wigram Depot
• Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $74,394 to $82,660 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
