Position SummaryThe Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting accounting and financial reporting for RPM. This role will handle financial reporting, cash management and the general ledger for a portfolio of properties.
Responsibilities- Prepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls
- Prepare financials for multiple clients with different reporting requirements
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service
- Use detailed technical accounting skills to assess appropriateness of accounting treatment
- Manage cash flow to pay the property expenses and predict the need for funding
- Record journal entries & accruals, reconcile income, and document prepaid rent in industry‑specific software
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly
- Perform bank reconciliations as appropriate
- Perform cash disbursement through wires and checks, prepare invoicing and inter‑company collections, and maintain a daily cash balance
- Act as a mentor to help train new or less experienced accounting staff
- Participate in the preparation & maintenance of written policies & procedures for functions/duties performed
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
- 2+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent
- Preferred Industry Specific Software:
Yardi, MRI, and/or Real Page/Onesite - Microsoft Office
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
- Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
- May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
- This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week
- The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
