Activity Assistant – Walnut Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care

Employment Type: Part Time – Every Other Weekend Availability

Walnut Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care is hiring an Activity Assistant to coordinate and implement an activities program that meets the needs and interests of the residents while working with the interdepartmental team to ensure all resident needs are met.

Essential Functions –

Job Duties:

• Plan, organize, and implement daily calendar activities with assistance and feedback from residents to provide a structured therapeutic environment.
• Communicate with staff regarding resident needs and coordinate efforts to improve programs while minimizing problematic situations.
• Adhere to all facility and governmental regulations, documenting attendance, progress, and all pertinent information.
• Maintain accurate records of activity participation, hydration, etc., utilizing appropriate forms.
• Complete activity assessments for residents as needed.
• Develop knowledge of each resident and, based on that knowledge, plan and implement group activities.
• Assist in maintaining proper utilization of volunteer services.
• Arrange and escort residents to outings in the community.
• Ensure pets are fed and areas are kept clean.
• Assist with basic care needs of residents as needed, including serving meals, hydration, and transportation, and general housekeeping/organization of activity areas.
• Maintain necessary activity supplies and inform the Activities Director and Executive Director of departmental needs.
• Work a flexible schedule to meet the activities department’s needs.
• Ensure proper resident documentation is completed in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and Executive Director.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and mandatory training as appropriate.
• Complete competency evaluations for required training and continuing education programs.
• Promote and encourage successful outcomes of resident activities, both group and individual.
• Follow all applicable state regulations.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License (if required for company vehicles).
• Age requirement: at least 23 years old if driver; otherwise at least 18.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push, pull or transport residents, supplies, or furniture up to 50 pounds; assistance may be requested if needed.
• Must be able to perform job duties without restrictions.

• Two (2) years’ experience planning/organizing activity programs.
• One (1) year of demonstrated knowledge of methods and techniques for motivating the elderly.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience interacting with seniors.
