Senior Water Resources Engineer
Location:
North Carolina – office locations in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Kernersville. Remote or hybrid work available for candidates in North Carolina or Ohio.
Compensation: $91,000 – $140,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

- Lead planning and design of a wide range of water resources and civil infrastructure projects, including stream and wetland restoration, dam remediation, FEMA floodplain analyses, culvert and bridge replacement, stormwater planning and design, watershed studies and asset management, site/civil development and public utility design, and programmatic engineering support.
- Manage and deliver engineering projects from concept development through final design, permitting, and construction support.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
- Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians—to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
- Travel occasionally to client sites across the U.S. as needed.
- Approach complex engineering challenges with creativity and problem‑solving.
- Maintain composure and professionalism under high‑pressure or fast‑paced situations.
- Work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on water resources. - Preferred:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources. - North Carolina PE licensure required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, or equivalent software.
- Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling experience preferred).
- Familiarity with GIS tools and applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulations.
- Experience with NCDOT standards and hydraulic‑related pre‑qualifications is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, time management, and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated client/project management experience is highly preferred.
