Schedule:

PRN. Candidates must have flexibility to pick up 7A‑7P and/or 7P‑7A. The unit will provide the schedule on a 6‑week time tract and candidates will self‑schedule to fill staffing gaps. Must be able to orient two shifts per week and will be required to work some weekends and holidays.

Kernersville Medical Center, Kernersville, NC.

Unit Info:
Opened March 2024; low risk, 12‑bed LDRP unit. Patients labor, deliver, and recover in the same room. Team includes RNs, Surg Techs, Lactation Consultants, OB anesthesiologist, neonatal NP, and respiratory staff. This position will scrub C‑section cases.

What You’ll Do

The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist).
  • Experience:

    Previous surgical technologist experience preferred.
  • Licensure/certification:
    Current surgical tech certification (CST, TS‑C, NRCST, or SA‑C) preferred.
  • Additional skills:
    New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire, successfully complete generic and department‑specific skill validation and competency testing, and demonstrate effective customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
