Overview

Quality Assurance Lead at Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, Inc. (KMM). An award-winning Tier 1 manufacturer of electronic components for military and aerospace industries with facilities in Dickinson and Killdeer, ND, and Kerrville, TX.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide guidance and support to the Quality Department and to foster a work environment where coworkers have the tools, training and leadership to build a quality product and develop effective Quality Inspectors. The QA Lead aims to improve profits and cash flow through process improvements and by ensuring the highest quality product is delivered to the customer.

The QA Lead conducts themselves professionally and remains responsive and respectful.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of customer requirements and industry standards; stay aware of customer specification changes/updates; research, investigate, and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and related procedures/instructions.
  • Ensure First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements are met, including completing FAI forms and documentation (per AS9102).
  • Communicate quality issues to the Quality Manager(s).
  • Monitor inspection results (First Pass Yield) to identify quality trends.
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Improvement Plan aligned to KMM Quality department goals and strategies; identify root causes and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and customer requirements; address compliance issues.
  • Monitor and report Quality Assurance scheduling and personnel issues; develop and maintain the Quality Assurance Training Matrix.
  • Assist Receiving and Final Inspection as needed.
  • Apply KMM Root Cause Corrective Action disciplines and facilitate required Corrective/Preventative Action activities (KMM-025).
  • Perform audits and verifications as required.
  • Communicate effectively with Production Team Leads, Operators, Trainers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Manager, Quality Manager, and Customer Representatives.
  • Lead team problem solving and continuous improvement projects; operate with a degree of independence.
  • Wear PPE as required and adhere to KMM safety policies and practices.
  • Support LEAN manufacturing initiatives: teach, coach, mentor; facilitate Lean initiatives; identify process improvement ideas and metrics; coordinate Lean training; keep Lean Liaisons informed.
  • Performs other related duties as required; this individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
  • May be involved as FOd focal for FOd prevention; responsibilities outlined in KMM-044 FD Prevention Plan. If selected, you will work under HRDJ and fulfill all duties outlined in this job description.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Clear understanding of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing's Quality Management System and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Dynamics, Excel, and Outlook; working knowledge of software used for specific tasks.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and fellow employees.
  • If applicable, ability to obtain IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist within six months of starting.
  • Detail-oriented with strong attention to detail and the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Good attendance and ability to work flexible hours and/or overtime.
Equipment and Machinery Used
  • May require use of digital caliper and pin gauges.
  • Daily use of a computer and related software; accurate data entry and retrieval for job tasks.
  • Standard office equipment (copiers, calculators, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move freely around the facility to perform duties.
  • Daily activities may include extended periods of sitting; data entry into computer systems using a keyboard.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Salary: $19.17 - $22.00 per hour.
