Peace Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator for the Infusion Center, Full Time (1.00 FTE), Day position.
Salary range: $26.49 – $35.75 per hour.
Job SummaryAssure that services approved by private payors have been performed and secure additional visits for patients throughout the episode of care. May also manage referrals and work closely with team members to ensure optimal utilization and cost containment. Provides clerical support and assistance to staff.
Details of the Position- Oversee data entry and completion of referral forms/notifications. Obtain insurance pre‑authorization for patients and reauthorizations of additional treatment. Ensure insurance carrier documentation requirements are met and referral support documentation is filed in the patient’s medical record.
- Efficiently manage correspondence with patients, physicians, specialists, and insurance companies. Document pertinent information on referral forms and/or in the medical record. Ensure practitioners follow standardized guidelines recommended by evidence‑based medicine.
- Communicate with billing staff and third‑party payors to assure coverage of patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Accredited School Preferred:
Business or two‑year college degree. - Preferred:
Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. - Minimum of 3 years required:
Experience working in insurance in a medical related field, or other related experience. - Preferred:
National Certified Medical Assistant. - Preferred:
Licensed Practical Nurse — Alaska. - Preferred:
Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated experience in insurance requirements for referrals and/or prior authorizations to various therapies (PT, RT, OT, ST), surgeries, procedures, diagnostic testing, and infusions, including GYN procedures and testing (Required).
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Required).
- Proficient with Horizon Home Care (Required).
- Experience/Training:
Minimum of two years’ experience working in insurance in a medical related field or other related field. - Will provide administrative support to RN and Pharmacist in case management.
- Will perform duties of Patient Access Representative.
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Predominantly a sedentary work environment.
- Operates in an office environment.
- Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
