Job Description
Peace Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Long Term Care. This is a full‑time position, 0.90 FTE, day shift only. Salary range: $23.43–$35.11 per hour. Hiring rate depends on education, training, experience, and applicable agreements. A hiring bonus may be available.
Job SummaryAssists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)- Assists in providing direct patient care as delegated by the registered nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure.
- Performs basic technical skills including CPR, taking and recording vital signs, measuring and recording fluid intake/output, applying dressings, recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions, and administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse.
- Assists patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, mouth and skin care, grooming and dressing, toileting assistance, eating, and hydration.
- Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
- Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.
- Documents relevant patient care data.
- May provide clerical support to the unit, including order entry, chart processing, answering telephones, and other duties as assigned.
- Certified Nursing Assistant from an accredited program.
- Minimum one year experience in an acute care facility (preferred).
- Graduate of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs.
- Certified Nurse Assistant – Alaska.
- Basic Life Support upon hire.
- Demonstrates a courteous, caring, and understanding attitude towards patients, families, coworkers, visitors, volunteers, peers, and physicians.
- Well organized, flexible, and able to work independently as assigned.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer, clerical, phone etiquette, and customer service skills.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment.
- Fine motor skills required.
- Push/Pull of up to 45 lbs. for carts.
- Hands‑on CPR using 100‑125 lbs. of force for at least 20 minutes; frequency seldom or occasionally.
- Frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
- Non‑patient lifting up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions:
exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles; tasks performed in noisy environments.
Mental/Visual: vision and hearing within normal limits; communication and exchange of accurate information.
