Stockers stock, straighten department, clear and clean aisles and provide customer service. This role includes cart retrieval/storage and unloading and loading trucks.

• Stock and straighten shelves; ensure product is displayed correctly and merchandise is readily accessible.
• Provide prompt and courteous customer service; assist customers in locating products and loading items into carts or vehicles.
• Follow merchandising standards and practices; align product, collect stray items, stock to maintain high product levels.
• Communicate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
• Prepare lists of products to be brought from storage for stocking; coordinate with forklift driver as needed.
• Use box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility and to remove twine or shrink-wrap from pallets.
• Wrap, tie, and tag pallets to be returned to storage.
• Stock opened cases on shelves; move and position pallets using manual pallet jack; stack product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
• Mark product numbers on unmarked items using marking gun; ensure correct product signage.
• Set up display models and modify displays for safe handling by customers.
• Follow all safety and security procedures; pull loose cardboard and slip-sheets from floors; operate cardboard baler and trash compactor; rewrap loose product as needed.
• Assist customers with loading large items into carts or vehicles; guide customers to products and provide product knowledge.
• Retrieve shopping carts from parking areas and return them to staging areas; load and unload freight trucks using forklift and/or pallet jack; stage product pallets in assigned areas.
• Fill propane tanks for customers and follow current safety guidelines for propane operations.
• Assist with front-end duties and in other store departments as necessary.
• Operate manual pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, tools as needed; occasionally operate cash register, handheld scanners, computer, fax machine, phone, printer.
• Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.

• A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and VDT and other office equipment. Standing and walking continuously; ability to lift up to 50 pounds below the waist, up to 75 pounds at waist/chest, and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
