We are seeking a confident, proactive and detail-oriented Technician to provide practical support across multiple subject areas, primarily within Science and Food & Nutrition. This role involves preparing equipment and materials for lessons, assisting in practical activities under the direction of teaching staff, and maintaining an organised and well-stocked supply of consumables and resources.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands‑on, collaborative working environment and who is committed to ensuring smooth and effective delivery of practical lessons. The Technician will also have the opportunity to support other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, organise and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons.
- Support teaching staff during practical activities, including Science and Food & Nutrition lessons.
- Ensure all equipment is stored safely and appropriately after use.
- Monitor stock levels of consumables and equipment, arranging replenishment when required.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment in practical areas.
- Assist with setup and use of laboratory or workshop equipment in line with health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share resources and support the delivery of lessons.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities and team development activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of practical teaching and learning experiences.
- Practical experience supporting Science, Food & Nutrition or related practical subjects is desirable.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements in practical teaching environments.
- Positive, adaptable and proactive approach to problem-solving.
