Role: Lecturer – Science – MATERNITY COVER

Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer to join our Science department at The Bedford College Group as Maternity Cover.

  • Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement – Deliver high‑quality teaching, assessment and verification across Levels 2–5, supporting learners to achieve their full potential and succeed.
  • Curriculum Planning & Innovative Delivery – Develop up‑to‑date schemes of work and engaging learning materials, contributing to curriculum development and innovative teaching practices.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Monitor learner progress, provide timely feedback, meet awarding body standards and contribute to internal quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
  • Learner Support, Behaviour & Enrichment – Support individual learner needs, promote positive behaviour and enhance learning through employer engagement and vocational opportunities.
  • Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance – Maintain accurate records, contribute to team and recruitment activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD standards.
About you
  • Qualifications & Scientific Expertise – Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related subject with GCSE English and maths, supported by vocational sector experience and commitment to achieving a teaching qualification.
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Experience – Ability to deliver high‑quality teaching, creating engaging, inclusive learning environments that support student achievement and progression.
  • Sector Knowledge & Continuous Development – Up‑to‑date knowledge of scientific developments, with a strong commitment to CPD and maintaining professional expertise.
  • Communication, Organisation & Collaboration – Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, able to build effective relationships, meet deadlines and contribute to team success.
  • Professional Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality and College values, maintaining professionalism with flexibility to work across sites and adapt to changing demands.
