AboutThe Role
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level
2) in Maths and English to join our English and Maths department at The Bedford College Group.
- Provide in‑class assistance for learners studying English and Maths (GCSE and Functional Skills), reinforcing learning and helping students engage positively.
- Support learners with additional needs, including those with EHCPs, through one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions under the guidance of teaching and SEND staff.
- Assist with preparing learning resources, supporting assessment activities and helping monitor, record and report learner progress as directed.
- Work closely with tutors, support teams and managers to promote attendance, positive behaviour, inclusion and use of digital learning platforms.
- Maintain confidentiality, participate in training and team activities, and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and health & safety requirements.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, plus a Level 3 qualification in English and Maths to support effective delivery.
- Experience supporting learners in an educational setting with the ability to contribute effectively to teaching and learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work both independently and collaboratively within a teaching team.
- Flexible, supportive and learner‑centred approach, committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and adapting to learner needs across timetabled sessions.
- Basic IT skills, willingness to undertake training and CPD, and suitability for the role subject to an enhanced DBS check.
