We are seeking a compassionate,reflectiveand nurturing colleague to join our English team as aLevel 4 Literacy Intervention Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is committed to inclusive practice and wants to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our most vulnerable learners.

About the Role

Working under the guidance of our English Lead and Reading Lead, you will play a key role in supporting students' communication, language and reading development through engaging whole-class story sessions and targeted individual interventions. Using our PACE approach (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), you will build strong, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

You will use your creativity and passion for storytelling to inspire a love of books, bringing stories vividly to life through expressive reading, drama, sensory experiences, props and imaginative activities that engage every learner. You will help create a nurturing, inspiring library environment where stories and storytelling are at the heart of school life, encouraging curiosity, imagination and a lifelong love of reading.

Working closely with the Reading Lead and the Literacy Intervention Assistant, you will lead inclusive and interactive story sessions, adapting your approach to meet the sensory, communication and emotional needs of individual students. You will respond to referrals for literacy support, plan and deliver evidence-informed interventions to address gaps in learning, build students' confidence and independence, and monitor, evaluate and report on their progress.

Through your enthusiasm, creativity and nurturing approach, you will help ensure every student experiences the joy, wonder and confidence that stories can bring.

Key Information

Grade:

Grade G (Points 8-12)

Hours:

Full Time (37 hours per week), 39 weeks per year

Working hours:

Monday: 08:00 - 15:45 (with half an hour unpaid break)

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 08:00 - 15:30 (with half an hour unpaid break)

Wednesday: 08:00 - 17:30 (with half an hour unpaid break and a 15-minute break at 15:30)

AHT & English Lead

Start Date:

By October 2026 (subject to internal arrangements)

Closing Date:
Friday 21st August 2026 at midday

Interview date:

Wednesday 9th September 2026
