Accounts Assistant

An established and growing business based in Kettering is seeking a proactive Accounts Assistant to join its UK Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to develop their finance career within a supportive environment.

The Role

Working closely with the wider finance team, you will support day-to-day financial operations, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This is a hands‑on position with exposure to both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring invoices are processed and payments allocated correctly
  • Reconciling bank statements and investigating discrepancies
  • Accurately entering financial data into Sage 200
  • Monitoring expenses and ensuring appropriate approvals are in place
  • Assisting with budget tracking and variance analysis
  • Preparing supporting documentation for internal and external audits
  • Taking customer payments over the phone
  • Providing cover for finance colleagues during absence
  • Supporting the team with general administrative and ad‑hoc finance duties
About You

You are organised, detail‑focused and comfortable managing your own workload to meet deadlines. You enjoy working as part of a team and are confident communicating with both colleagues and customers.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
  • A solid understanding of basic accounting principles (AAT part‑qualified preferred)
  • Experience with Accounts Payable and Receivable processes
  • Working knowledge of Sage 200
  • Strong Excel skills, alongside Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Good customer service experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
