Role Responsibilities Legislation & Policy- Implement annual changes in recruitment legislation, including updates from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
- Support staff through HR policies such as Absence Management and Disciplinary procedures
- Stay up to date with HR legislation and best practice
- Prepare and post job adverts
- Upload application packs to My New Term and collate applicant responses
- Organise shortlisting packs, interview schedules, and candidate communications
- Carry out pre‑employment checks in line with Safer Recruitment
- Produce contracts, offer letters, leaver documents, and other HR correspondence
- Manage staff probation processes
- Maintain accurate and compliant staff records
- Oversee the Single Central Record and DBS checks for staff, volunteers, and contractors
- Complete the annual Workforce Census
- Update staff absence, holiday entitlement, and CPD records on SIMS
- Process contract variations and liaise with payroll, checking monthly reports
- Respond to general HR queries and escalate complex matters to external HR advisors
- Arrange new‑starter inductions and exit interviews, sharing feedback with SLT
- Monitor and report on staff absence trends
- Manage health‑related matters including medical certificates and Occupational Health referrals
- Oversee staff leave of absence requests
- Administer wellbeing packages, including the annual flu vaccination programme
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communicator with a supportive, professional approach
- Ability to work confidentially and handle sensitive information
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Full right to work in the UK
- HR experience in a school or MAT setting
- Experience using SIMS or similar databases
- Knowledge of safer recruitment and SCR compliance
- CIPD Level 3 or working towards it (not essential)
