We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Apprentice to join our Area 7 account within Amey's Transport Infrastructure Business Unit, based in Sandiacre. Whether you are leaving school, finishing college or looking for a new direction, this is a great place to start building your future career.

Starting Salary: 29,904 per annum (Subject to review)

Sandiacre Depot, Bostocks Lane, Sandiacre, Nottingham, NG10 5ND

Working hours per week:
Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week (rotating day and night shifts).

Lead traffic management operative / Skills England   

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled on a Lead Traffic Management Operative Level 2 apprenticeship, which will take approximately 21 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college and your Amey team, with one-to-one advice, e-learning materials, mentoring and experienced colleagues on hand to help you learn, ask questions and build your technical knowledge.

We maintain over 700 kilometres of some of the UK's busiest motorways and strategic highways across the East Midlands and north of England, providing maintenance and incident response services. As many as 180,000 vehicles a day use certain sections of this vital network.

Our team of 200+ provides vital maintenance and responds to incidents to keep the travelling public moving, helping 4.5 million citizens across the East Midlands experience better and safer journeys every day.

What you will do:

Carry out routine and cyclic maintenance activities.

Undertake minor civil works, drainage works and carriageway patching.

Maintain high technical standards and attend project and work briefings as required .

Drive and operate vehicles and plant requiring general and specialist skills.

Carry out vehicle checks, routine maintenance such as oil and water checks, cleaning and accurate recording of defects before starting each shift.

Carry out other highway maintenance activities, including litter picking, winter maintenance and emergency call-out operations.

Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others in your team, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operations to protect members of the public.

Accurately record drivers' hours, time and resource utilisation in line with the operating allocation system.

Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, and communicate and liaise with Amey employees, subcontractors, emergency services, the police, members of the public, clients and customers.
What you will bring:

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, keen to learn and ready to build their confidence in a supportive team.      
If under 19 years with no Maths & or English, candidate will have to complete functional skills.

Full UK driving licence.

BPSS check requirement.
